Arsenal may have a decision to make on centre-back Rob Holding, with the latest reports suggesting that there is interest in him from a fellow Premier League club.
According to The Star, newly-promoted Leeds United are looking at options available at centre-back, as they struggle to bring Brighton defender Ben White back to Elland Road.
This has seen Marcelo Bielsa look into possible defenders available on loan, but as it stands they have not made any move for the Arsenal player.
The 24 year-old has been at the Gunners since they signed him from Bolton for £2.70 million in 2016, per Transfermarkt. but injury struggles have meant he has not played as consistently as he would have wanted as he missed 37 games in a row due to a cruciate ligament rupture. This campaign he has played 18 times in all competitions, with eight coming in the Premier League, per Transfermarkt.
Despite his impressive 4.5 clearances per game, the Englishman has struggled in other departments as he has averaged less than one tackle and interception per game, per WhoScored.
This suggests that a loan in England’s top flight, at a club where he is seen as a starting defender could be ideal for all parties, as he could improve for a season and come back a better player for the Gunners.
However Mikel Arteta might not be able to afford to allow the defender to depart, as defenders Pablo Mari, Callum Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi are currently injured, so the Spaniard does not have a lot of options at the back.
If the three can return before the start of the season, then a loan move for holding would be good, however if they can’t Arteta will need to keep him at the club.
