Matteo Guendouzi hasn’t been seen in action for Arsenal since his incident after the defeat at Brighton on 20 June and Athletic journalist David Ornstein has provided an update on his current situation.
According to Ornstein, the 21-year-old has been training on his own ever since the 2-1 loss at the Amex Stadium as Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was not happy with his antics. This has seen the Gunners now considering parting ways with the Frenchman in the upcoming transfer window.
As per The Athletic, they would allow him to leave for an as yet unknown fee or they might use him in a swap deal for interested targets.
This hasn’t been the first time that Arteta has dropped Guendouzi from the squad as he also did so earlier this season after the squad’s trip to Dubai.
This could hint at an attitude problem from the player which has angered his manager and perhaps it would be best for all parties if he were to leave. The 21-year-old is out of favour at the Emirates Stadium and Arteta could run out of patience with him if there are any further infractions.
His young age, coupled with him playing consistently in the Premier League before this incident, means that the Gunners could justifiably try to recoup a large fee for him.
No matter what the club saw in Guendouzi when they signed him, the problems they have had with the player are undesirable. In any case, they have been in great form since his omission from the squad as they have won their last four games, so they seem to be doing better without him.
Will you be happy if Guendouzi is sold?
Guendouzi is valued at £36.45m on Transfermarkt, so the Gunners will either get a fair amount of money for selling him or be able to use him as an enticing bargaining chip in prospective swap deals.
