Arsenal have done some business so far in the transfer window, most recently, they acquired Gabriel Magalhaes from Ligue 1 side Lille. Now there are reports suggesting that Mikel Arteta is now keen on signing a Premier League player.
According to Football Insider, Arteta is a big admirer of West Ham United winger Felipe Anderson, and due to this, the North London side see him as a top target.
They believe that that the Hammers want to sell senior stars to raise much-needed cash, and this gives them a good chance of luring the wide forward to the Emirates.
If you compare Anderson’s two seasons at the Irons since his £34.20 million move from Lazio, it has been a bit of a rollercoaster. In 2018/19 he had a very decent campaign, managing nine goals and four assists. He also averaged 1.6 shots, 1.8 key passes and 2.1 successful dribbles per game, via WhoScored.
If the Gunners can get him for a fair amount cheaper than the amount he signed for when joining West Ham, then it could be a decent signing for squad depth, especially if the 27 year-old could rekindle his form from his debut season in the division. His 2.5 dribbles per game last campaign ranks him higher than any player in the Arsenal squad so he could bring something a bit different to the club which is the intent to take on opposition defences.
Therefore if Arsenal can find a good deal then they should try and acquire him, however if the Irons try to make them pay an overpriced fee then they should definitely walk away.
