Having been ruled out for the early weeks of Mikel Arteta’s reign at Arsenal, on-loan Dani Ceballos has now seemingly impressed the club sufficiently to convince them to seek a permanent deal for him.
Los Galaticos are in full control of this deal and they and will not let him leave on the cheap, as they have set an asking price of €25m (£22.6m). Apparently, La Liga duo Valencia and Real Betis are both interested in the player along with Arsenal.
In the last five games, Ceballos has only picked up a rating of under seven once by Sofascore and he was given a 6.9 rating on that occasion. He appears to be dominating in the midfield and this was highlighted by his stats in the North London derby as he completed both of his dribble attempts, played two key passes and won seven ground duels.
He has also been praised in the media for his recent performances. Over the course of the season, Ceballos has managed on average 1.7 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 1.4 key passes and 1.8 completed dribbles a game for club and country (per WhoScored), while he has two goals and two assists so far in Arsenal colours.
Ceballos’ recent performances and season statistics highlight how he has been effective at both ends of the pitch and that is a crucial asset for Arsenal to have.
It is up to Arteta to decide if the midfielder’s importance is worth slightly more than £22m but, for a player who is only 23 and already familiar with the club, it seems like a no-brainer for the Gunners to attempt to clinch a permanent deal for him.
