Arsenal are said to be among a list of a large number of clubs looking into the potential of a summer move for Thiago Silva.
The Brazilian has been representing Ligue 1 side Paris Saint Germain for the last eight years of his career, featuring 310 times for the French champions. With the season now over in France after it was ended prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic, Silva is now set to leave the club due to his expiring contract.
Despite being offered a new deal with PSG, which is said to be in region of £85,000 per week, the 88-cap Brazil international is yet to sign new terms and interest is now emerging from elsewhere.
With Gunners boss Mikel Arteta struggling to find consistency this term at the Emirates Stadium, a potential move Silva would seemingly look an attractive one.
The likes of Sokratis and David Luiz have struggled at times despite their experience and a recent report from The Telegraph has said that the latter will leave the club this summer after just one season at the club.
Silva is expected to gain plenty of interest, with 90min also claiming Everton are showing signs of interest as Carlo Ancelotti looks to improve his options at Goodison Park next term.
Silva may well have been an astute signing in the past but, as hinted by his statistics on WhoScored, the 35-year-old could be past his prime.
With very little consistency and solidity at the back for Arsenal over the last few seasons, it is hard to imagine that someone of Mikel Arteta’s knowledge would be looking to bring in players who are not for the club’s long-term future.
Luiz looks set to leave the club this summer and replacing him with a player of similar age is hardly going to excite many Gunners fans.
