Arsenal have their eyes set on various players for this upcoming transfer window, although they will only be able to attempt to sign midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai on one condition.
According to The Guardian, Mikel Arteta will be able to pursue the signing of the Red Bull Salzburg ‘prodigy’ if they manage to secure a Champions League place.
It is not certain how much the club would need to offer to buy the player, but Arsenal could be given a blessing if fifth place in the Premier League gets a Champions League qualification spot due to Manchester City’s ongoing issues with UEFA.
It is obviously going to be difficult for the Gunners to battle for a top five spot as they currently sit ninth, but they are only five points from fifth, so it is not an impossible task by any means.
Szoboszlai boasts good potential at both ends of the pitch as he has averaged 1.4 successful tackles, 2.4 shots and one key pass a game in all competitions including the Champions League, per WhoScored.
The central midfielder could be a good alternative to Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, with whom the Gunners have been linked recently, as he would have cheaper wages and is much younger.
With experience in Europe’s premier club competition and contributions both defensively and in attack, the Hungarian stands out as a real talent and, if Arsenal can claim a top five position, they should definitely put the Salzburg player near the top of their most wanted list.
Gunners fans, would Szoboszlai be an ideal alternative to Partey if the Ghanaian isn’t signed? Comment below with your views!
