James Rodriguez has struggled for game-time under Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, with only eight appearances in La Liga this season, and fresh transfer rumours suggest that Arsenal would be interested in luring him to the Premier League.
According to Marca, the Colombian does not want to stay at Los Galacticos and wants to leave in the upcoming transfer window. Also, as he only has one year left on his contract, Real Madrid would prefer that he was sold this summer so they can get some money for him.
The Gunners are not the only Premier League club interested, though as Manchester United, Everton and Wolves are also keeping tabs on the situation. The fee they would have to pay is unknown but it is believed it would be a cut-price figure (as per Marca).
The 28-year-old is valued at £28.8m on Transfermarkt and has a wealth of experience on the international stage as well as in Europe. He has managed 388 appearances throughout his career, scoring 104 goals whilst assisting a further 125.
Rodriguez has been an effective presence during his career and, with Mesut Ozil not favoured by manager Mikel Arteta, as highlighted by his lack of game-time since football returned last month, the Colombian could make a good successor to the German at the Emirates – indeed, there have been some reports linking Ozil with a potential departure from the club this summer.
It should be a good signing for Arteta and, with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Napoli also intersted in him (as per Marca), it shows how good the attacking midfielder can be and it should be a great signal of intent if they can beat those other clubs to signing him.
