Arsenal have previously been linked with Helsingborg prospect Armin Gigovic, who has been speaking recently on his future, although it doesn’t sound very positive for the Gunners.
Gigovic has been linked to many clubs, including fellow Premier League side Manchester City, but it seems that the 18-year-old is happy where he is currently at as he said (via Voetbal Nieuws): “My focus is currently here in Sweden. I let my agent deal with the interest of other clubs. Chances are I will just stay with Helsingsborg.”
The Swedish defensive midfielder has emerged onto the scene in his native country with Helsingborg, with 20 appearances since his debut season in 2018/19 and managing to pick up one goal and assist, per Transfermarkt. The 18-year-old seems to be a player for the future and his performances have not gone unnoticed as he has seven caps for the Swedish under-17 national team.
It is understandable that Gigovic doesn’t want to make a lucrative overseas move yet, as he is still quite raw and might not play consistently at a Premier League club such as Arsenal.
In any case, the Gunners can look towards their own youngsters as they have promising talents in Joe Willock and Ashley Maitland-Niles who can play in centre midfield, the same position as the Swedish prospect.
This highlights that Mikel Arteta has enough budding young talent in that part of the pitch and should not be worried about Gigovic wanting to stay in Sweden.
