Arsenal: Fabrizio Romano confirms that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed a new deal at the club - Arsenal Transfer Rumours

Arsenal supporters may have had a lot of stress over the course of the current transfer window as there has been considerable speculation over the future of their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The striker has only one year left on his contract and many sides have been circling, leaving those associated with the north London club possibly fearing his departure. However, the latest update on the Gabon striker seems to suggest that this will not be the case.

Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has all but confirmed the future of Aubameyang as he tweeted that the forward has turned down two bids to stay at the club and they will soon confirm that he has signed a new contract.

He had some of the best teams in Europe looking to acquire him, including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus, but he now seem happy to remain at the Emirates Stadium.

Aubameyang has been a great talisman for Arsenal since arriving from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund as he has scored 72 goals in 111 appearances for the Gunners, per Transfermarkt.

He is 31 but looks to be maturing like a fine wine as he has scored in both of his last two fixtures for the Gunners, against Fulham and Liverpool, and there is no doubt that he could be in contention for the Golden Boot again this campaign, having been just one behind Jamie Vardy‘s award-winning league total in 2019/20.

This is a tremendous coup for the Gunners and probably feels like a new signing to some supporters of the club who may have feared his exit. He scored 22 of Arsenal’s 56 goals in the Premier League last season and this highlights how important he is to the club.

He is also the captain, so it shows that it was the right choice to give him the armband as he has demonstrated his commitment to the north London side and wants to continue being successful with them, as they have lifted two trophies since he became club captain.

Gunners fans, how excited are you that Aubameyang appears to be staying? Comment below with your views!
