# Arsenal: Gunners target Moises Caicedo now ‘in London’

**[Arsenal](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/arsenal-fc-news/) transfer target Moises Caicedo has travelled to London today amid interest from the Gunners and Chelsea, according to journalist Jacque Talbot.**

### The Lowdown: Conflicting reports

Talbot [reported](https://twitter.com/jac_talbot/status/1620315771309297664?s=20&t=ahmxndAZ_YLIOAzHMa7_VQ) this morning that a deal had been agreed for the Ecuador midfielder, with the Gunners prepared to break their club-record transfer fee to land him, but there were subsequent indications that a move is not as close as it first seemed.

Jim White has [claimed](https://twitter.com/JimWhite/status/1620338517011496963?s=20&t=qF3c_JDYXQZU5gH0pKN4-g) that Brighton & Hove Albion’s stance is unchanged and that a third bid has not been lodged by Arsenal, who have [agreed](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/arsenal-fc-news/arsenal-jorginho-transfer-news-rumours/) a deal for another central midfielder in Jorginho.

### The Latest: Deal still on?

Speaking to [GIVEMESPORT](https://www.givemesport.com/88110747-arsenal-transfer-news-moises-caicedo) about the potential deal, Talbot offered a new update on the status of the Arsenal transfer target.

He said in relation to Caicedo: *“I’ve heard that he’s traveled to London on deadline day – he’s in London*. *Obviously it’s been briefed elsewhere, and especially to Brighton reporters, that there’s no deal in place. That’s not our information. We’re aware of that but it’s not what I’ve heard.”*

### The Verdict: Make it happen

While Jorginho arriving for [£12m](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/arsenal-fc-news/arsenal-jorginho-transfer-news-rumours/) is a very astute piece of business, [Mikel Arteta](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/mikel-arteta/) could still do with a long-term prospect in the engine room given that his midfield is aging, with Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka both set to be [past their 30th birthdays](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-arsenal/startseite/verein/11) by the time next season commences.

Caicedo has been [hailed](https://twitter.com/__tombarnes/status/1556273382424977408?s=20&t=896BbIL3vbTd9ndQLCK8YQ) as a ‘brilliant footballer’ by journalist Tom Barnes and he has been absolutely indispensable for Brighton this season. He [ranks](https://www.sofascore.com/team/football/brighton-and-hove-albion/30) among their five best-performing [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) players by SofaScore largely due to his ‘[tenacious](https://twitter.com/FTalentScout/status/1334620072304893957?s=20&t=kRvgK95iLEkLw8rKmCOvSw)‘ tackles (in the words of talent scout Jacek Kulig), making [more](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/total_tackle) than any other Brighton player.

That the Ecuadorian appears to be gunning for the move should stand Arsenal in good stead, with the player recently taking to Twitter to say that he [wants](https://twitter.com/MoisesCaicedo55/status/1619096422552596481?s=20&t=jvHpXFxEUKkBUB5Us8AjkQ) to take up the ‘magnificent opportunity’ to leave the south coast, and the objective will now be to get a deal over the line before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm tonight.
