# Arsenal in quick-fire double bid for Mahrez, up to £35m now

**Though the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern watched Claudio Ranieri tell reporters earlier today that title hero Riyad Mahrez was staying at Leicester City, reports from France have them dancing on the tables.**

Their reported interest in the Algerian playmaker has been one of the sewing motifs amid the silliest of silly seasons, though growing ever bitter rivals Chelsea have also been been touted as a potential landing spot.

However, according to *L’Equipe* consultant [Gilles Favard](https://twitter.com/GillesFavard/status/763336115008991232?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw), the North London giants have today submitted TWO bids for the 24-year old.

The first was [reported](https://twitter.com/GillesFavard/status/763326027426914304) to be around [£30m](https://twitter.com/GillesFavard/status/763326027426914304), snubbed by the Premier League champions, is [said](https://twitter.com/GillesFavard/status/763336115008991232?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) to have been followed up by one of[£35m](https://twitter.com/GillesFavard/status/763336115008991232?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw).

The Foxes have previously been [reported](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/07/18/leicester-confident-riyad-mahrez-will-stay-but-would-ask-for-mor/) to value the former Le Harve playmaker at a whopping [£45m](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/07/18/leicester-confident-riyad-mahrez-will-stay-but-would-ask-for-mor/), though Favard has [cryptically](https://twitter.com/GillesFavard/status/763346521303769088?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) added to his initial claims.

In a final transfer tidbit, he simply [announced](https://twitter.com/GillesFavard/status/763346521303769088?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) “Mahrez to Arsenal soon.”

**Could Arsenal really sign Mahrez? As good as he is, surely he isn’t what they need? Let us know below…**
