# Arsenal: Mikel Arteta keen on signing Felipe Anderson

**Arsenal have done some business so far in the transfer window, most recently, they acquired [Gabriel Magalhaes](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53990363#:~:text=Arsenal%20have%20completed%20the%20signing,on%20a%20long%2Dterm%20contract.) from Ligue 1 side Lille. Now there are reports suggesting that Mikel Arteta is now keen on signing a Premier League player.**

According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-arsenal-launch-shock-move-to-sign-west-ham-27-yr-old/), Arteta is a big admirer of West Ham United winger Felipe Anderson, and due to this, the North London side see him as a top target.

They believe that that the Hammers want to sell senior stars to raise much-needed cash, and this gives them a good chance of luring the wide forward to the Emirates.

If you compare Anderson’s two seasons at the Irons since his [£34.20](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/felipe-anderson/transfers/spieler/159372) million move from Lazio, it has been a bit of a rollercoaster. In 2018/19 he had a very decent campaign, [managing](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) nine goals and four assists. He also averaged 1.6 shots, 1.8 key passes and 2.1 successful dribbles per game, via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison).

However, last season he only [managed](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) one goal and four assists, and despite completing 2.5 dribbles a game, his average shots (0.9) and key passes (1) per game declined, via [WhoScored.](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison)

If the Gunners can get him for a fair amount cheaper than the amount he signed for when joining West Ham, then it could be a decent signing for squad depth, especially if the [27 year-old](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) could rekindle his form from his debut season in the division. His [2.5 dribbles](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) per game last campaign ranks him [higher](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Show/England-Arsenal) than any player in the Arsenal squad so he could bring something a bit different to the club which is the intent to take on opposition defences.

Therefore if Arsenal can find a good deal then they should try and acquire him, however if the Irons try to make them pay an overpriced fee then they should definitely walk away.
