# Arsenal: Gunners ‘in negotiations’ for Mykhaylo Mudryk

**[Arsenal](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/arsenal-fc-news/) are ‘in negotiations’ to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk on deadline day, reports FIFA journalist [Abdellah Boulma](https://twitter.com/AbdellahBoulma/status/1564886764669501441?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1564886764669501441%7Ctwgr%5E7525d0075b53e99f7c12db3d4da21adc496d417a%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.footballtransfertavern.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D407962action%3Dedit).**

### The lowdown: Rising star

A product of the [youth system](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mykhaylo-mudryk/transfers/spieler/537860) at the Ukrainian top flight outfit, Mudryk has successfully come through the ranks in his homeland to become a top prospect.

The 21-year-old Ukraine international has already amassed [12 direct goal contributions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mykhaylo-mudryk/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/537860) in 28 first-team outings and was part of the side that lifted their [domestic cup](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mykhaylo-mudryk/erfolge/spieler/537860) in 2018/19.

Now, with Mikel Arteta and Edu seemingly still on the hunt for an additional wide option, Mudryk appears to be [on the radar](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1564271929246244864) at the Emirates Stadium…

### The latest: Negotiations ongoing…

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/AbdellahBoulma/status/1564886764669501441?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1564886764669501441%7Ctwgr%5E7525d0075b53e99f7c12db3d4da21adc496d417a%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.footballtransfertavern.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D407962action%3Dedit), Boulma has revealed talks are ongoing over a deal worth around €30m (£26m).

The Gunners have apparently even already offered a five-year deal to the player.

*“As already mentioned, the coveted Mykhaïlo Moudryk is in negotiations for an arrival at Arsenal. Transfer approaching an amount of 30 million euros. 5-year contract was offered to the player.”*

### The verdict: Pay up

Albeit currently the north Londoners would be efficiently buying potential as opposed to the finished article, shelling out £26million for a talented youngster still remains a snip in today’s inflated market.

Last season, Mudryk – who was described as [‘great to watch’](https://twitter.com/henrywinter/status/1562360984831926273) by Henry Winter – scored [twice and provided nine assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mykhaylo-mudryk/leistungsdaten/spieler/537860/plus/0?saison=2021) in 19 appearances across all competitions, proof of an ability to have an impact in the final third.

Operating almost [exclusively as a left-winger](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mykhaylo-mudryk/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/537860) in his fledgeling career to date, the Ukrainian youngster would likely act as an understudy to Gabriel Martinelli and would provide much-needed strength in depth to the attacking options at Mikel Arteta’s disposal.
