# Arsenal open talks to land incredible £42m striker

![Aubameyang](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Aubameyang-500x341.jpg)Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern almost choked on their pints this morning after reports suggested the Gunners are eying an audacious swoop for a world-class striker.

[*The Sun* states Arsenal will lodge a £42m move this month to land Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/6835515/Arsenal-eye-staggering-42m-move-for-Borussia-Dortmund-star-Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang.html), which would provide a huge boost to the Gunners in the Premier League title race.

Aubameyang has enjoyed a scintillating performance in German football so far this season, with an incredible tally of 24 goals in 23 games so far this term- and [he’s told friends he wants to play in the Premier League.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/6835515/Arsenal-eye-staggering-42m-move-for-Borussia-Dortmund-star-Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang.html)

[Arsenal have in-fact opened talks with Dortmund regarding the Gabonese international, with a source stating](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/6835515/Arsenal-eye-staggering-42m-move-for-Borussia-Dortmund-star-Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang.html):

> “An intermediary has made contact with Dortmund about Pierre-Emerick making a move to Arsenal.  Wenger knows the fee is very high — yet this is a striker who can make a massive difference for him and help win the title for the first time in 12 years. But there is a lot of interest in him.”

Such a transfer for Arsenal would signal a major statement of intent, whilst the price would put Aubameyang near the top of the Gunners all-time most expensive signings, behind only Mesut Ozil.
