# Arsenal ready to launch inquiry for European giant’s quality striker

![benzemaaa](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/benzemaaa-500x335.jpg)Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern praying for big recruits this summer may well have had those prayers answered, with reports of progress in a significant deal.

*[The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3543812/Arsenal-step-chase-20m-Granit-Xhaka-Real-Madrid-striker-Karim-Benzema-remains-radar.html)*[states](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3543812/Arsenal-step-chase-20m-Granit-Xhaka-Real-Madrid-striker-Karim-Benzema-remains-radar.html) Arsenal are ready to launch an enquiry to Real Madrid about the availability of Karim Benzema, should Los Blancos sign one of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Robert Lewandowski in the summer.

Real Madrid have endured a mixed affair this season, although a sensational turn of events recently has put them back in the La Liga title race, and the squad is expected to be shaken up this season, with a quality striker on Zinedine Zidane’s wish-list.

If Zidane and Real Madrid are successful in their pursuit of either of the Bundesliga’s leading scorers, Benzema could find himself surplus to requirements but [his own availability hinders on the outcome of a judicial investigation](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3543812/Arsenal-step-chase-20m-Granit-Xhaka-Real-Madrid-striker-Karim-Benzema-remains-radar.html) where the French international has been accused of blackmail.

The 28-year-old striker was heavily linked to Arsenal last summer and fans are desperate for a big-name to fill the vacant number nine jersey, which hasn’t had a quality holder for many years.
