# Arsenal set to table shock offer for world-class 5ft 9 attacking midfielder?

[The Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/598596/Bayern-Munich-Manchester-United-Thomas-Muller-Arsenal-Mario-Gotze) are reporting that Bayern Munich ace, Mario Gotze is an unsettled man at the moment and could be headed to the Premier League – Arsenal his preferred destination.

The 23-year old attacking midfield player scored the winning goal in the World Cup final last year, and a move to North London would see him link up with fellow German compatriots, Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker.

A move is looking likely due to the well documented patchy relationship the German international and Pep Guardiola apparently have. However, Manchester United are also [thought to be interested](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/598596/Bayern-Munich-Manchester-United-Thomas-Muller-Arsenal-Mario-Gotze) in the player so a bidding war could erupt.

Despite the appeal of Gotze, our landlord here in the Tavern had this to say: “Not so sure about this one, they will have to pay big money on a player they don’t really need – Wenger needs a striker more than anything.”

Our resident Gooners feel that Gotze would undoubtedly be a fantastic addition, but feel a striker should be the main priority this summer!
