# Arsenal to trigger £34m clause to land lethal Spurs target imminently

**Arsenal’s striker search is slowly becoming more and more akin to their hunt for a Premier League title, for the punters in the Transfer Tavern.**

Long. Monotonous. Not at all prosperous.

Having been snubbed by Jamie Vardy, everyone other than the Gunners propping up the bar has been revelling in the fact one of the most stylish clubs on the continent was rejected by a man playing non-league football just a few years ago.

Still in need of a forward, Arsene Wenger needs to pull a proverbial rabbit out of a hat.

Well then, imagine the delight among the long-suffering North London locals when reports from the [Daily Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/07/05/arsenal-transfer-news-gunners-join-chase-for-alexandre-lacazette/) emerged.

They [claim](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/07/05/arsenal-transfer-news-gunners-join-chase-for-alexandre-lacazette/) that Wenger is ready to trigger a reported [£34m](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/07/05/arsenal-transfer-news-gunners-join-chase-for-alexandre-lacazette/)release clause in the contract of Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette this summer.

The Frenchman has been linked with moves to arch rivals [Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-and-west-ham-face-fight-to-sign-lyon-striker-alexandre-lacazette-a3240426.html) in recent months, though *Les Gones* have always stood firm.

Wenger himself is [said](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/07/06/arsenal-transfer-news-and-rumours-live1/) to want a deal wrapped up prior to the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, meaning he could be set to splash the cash sooner rather than later.

**Would Lacazette be enough to win Arsenal the league?**
