# Arsenal’s William Gallas Is ‘Up For Grabs’

[![](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/defense-william-ga_61833-150x150.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/defense-william-ga_61833.jpg)Arsenal could lose defender William Gallas in the summer over Arsene Wenger’s over-30 rule, according to The Sun.

Gallas, 32, is out of contract in the summer and it has been rumoured that Arsenal may offer the Frenchman a longer deal to stay at the Emirates, but Wenger has always refused to offer veteran players more than a one year deal.

Gunners chairman Peter Hill-Wood has stood behind his manager, telling The Sun:

> *“Arsene has a policy with players who are aged 30 to offer them one-year extensions.*
>
> *He has not asked us to make an exception for Gallas. If he did, I am sure the board would agree to it.*
>
> *I think it is proper for players of that age to get one-year deals. Then if they do well, they get another year”.*

Arsenal have used the rolling one year deal with Dennis Bergkamp before, and are keen to keep Gallas at the club. The Frenchman was a key part of last night’s victory over Liverpool, making an excellent last-ditch to stop David N’Gog scoring at the Emirates last night.
