# Aston Villa: £10m Christian Benteke talk has fans reacting

**Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to [some transfer gossip](https://twitter.com/AVFC_News/status/1305103436296466433) that claims former striker Christian Benteke is available for sale this summer for £10m.**

Claret and Blue boss Dean Smith saw the likes of Mbwana Samatta, Keinan Davis and Wesley [all struggle to find consistency last term.](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/24/Show/England-Aston-Villa)

Adding [26 goal striker Ollie Watkins](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ollie-watkins/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/324358) from Brentford last week, Smith now has more firepower in his front line but further transfer gossip [has emerged linking Lyon striker Bertrand Traore with a move to the club.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54140732)

Further to that report linking the Burkina Faso striker with a Villa Park move, [Birmingham LIVE](https://t.co/pXwTicVGvs?amp=1) have reported that Benteke is available for a small transfer fee of £10m.

The Belgian striker scored [49 goals in 101 appearances for Villa](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-benteke/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/50201), whilst also supplying 12 assists for his former teammates.

Reacting to the gossip, some Villa fans gave a response via Twitter account @AVFC\_News. However, it seems the majority are not keen on a reunion with the big striker, suggesting it would be a backwards step for the club.

Indeed, Benteke has really struggled in recent years and has scored just [three league goals in the last two seasons](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-benteke/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/50201). Here is what some had to say…

> No, we go forwards not backwards and there’s no sentiment in football. UTV

> His confidence, or lack there of, has ruined his game. Nothing else. He was amazing at the villa. Maybe not for 10m, but I’d take him back.

> Not for me. Loved him in a villa shirt but since he left Villa his career has plummeted
