# Aston Villa: Alan Hutton says players are ‘buzzing’ to be back in training

**Former Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton has [revealed](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-hutton-drops-aston-villa-training-ground-reveal-after-squad-chat/) that the club’s players are ‘buzzing’ to be back in training ahead of a Premier League return.**

Having been given the green light from the [UK government and the Premier League to return to group training](https://www.premierleague.com/news/1670160), Villa are now preparing themselves to return to finish the 2019/20 season.

Sitting [19th](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/tabelle/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2019) in the league table, the pressure is firmly on manager Dean Smith to prevent relegation to the Championship just one season after gaining promotion. Villa have [10 matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa/spielplan/verein/405) remaining to play, having one game in hand over relegation rivals Bournemouth, West Ham, Watford and Brighton.

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-hutton-drops-aston-villa-training-ground-reveal-after-squad-chat/), former Villa full-back [Hutton has now revealed](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-hutton-drops-aston-villa-training-ground-reveal-after-squad-chat/) that the players are eager to get back on the pitch and play out the remainder of the season.

*“I mean they’re buzzing to be back. It’s been such a long time, it’s been months now, they’ve been on their own and we’ve said before there’s only so much you can do on your own.*

*“To be back on the training pitch with the manager and John Terry doing drills, short, sharp drills, I think they’ve been doing a lot to keep their fitness up, I think they’re all very happy.*

*“They’re looking to move on to the next stage, obviously the health being the priority. They’re doing a lot of testing and making sure everyone’s alright so hopefully with that being they’re going to move forward next week with some contact.*

*“Their fitness is coming on, by all accounts they’re working very hard, they’re doing a lot of fitness stuff so when the games do come back around they’re capable of competing.”*

Villa certainly need to find a run of form when the season resumes if they are to avoid the drop to the Championship but, with just [four points](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/tabelle/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2019) separating them from 15th-placed Brighton, survival is eminently achievable.

Hutton’s comments should go down well with the club’s fans, who will likely be eager to see them back out on the pitch.
