# Aston Villa: Villans linked with Brandon Williams

**[Aston Villa](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/aston-villa-news/) could make a move for Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams, according to [Birmingham Live](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-man-can-solve-24308340).**

### The Lowdown: Williams profiled

The youngster is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brandon-williams/profil/spieler/507700) a left-back who can also line out at right-back and is entering the final two years of his [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brandon-williams/profil/spieler/507700) at Old Trafford.

Described as [‘great in the air’](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/manchester-united/story/3972798/manchester-uniteds-brandon-williams-brave-as-a-lion-in-partizan-win-solskjaer) by his former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the past, the 21-year-old has made [50](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brandon-williams/leistungsdaten/spieler/507700) senior appearances for United but spent last season on loan with Norwich City.

The Englishman, who is known for his [speed](https://www.teamtalk.com/manchester-united/brandon-williams-ralf-rangnick-wowed-norwich-loanee-major-role-next-season-report), made [29](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brandon-williams/leistungsdaten/spieler/507700) appearances for the Canaries, and it looks as if he could be on the move again this summer.

### The Latest: Villa linked with Williams

[Birmingham Live](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-man-can-solve-24308340) reporter John Townley, who focuses mainly on Villa, shared a story on Monday morning looking at Steven Gerrard’s left-back ranks.

With Ashley Young still yet to sign a new deal in the Midlands, Townley said that the club could be interested in a move for Williams. The 21-year-old is worth just £10m and is seemingly available to leave Manchester United this summer, with Townley saying that the defender’s versatility could be of use to Gerrard.

### The Verdict: Cheaper option

As [Townley](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-man-can-solve-24308340) mentions, Williams would be a cheaper option than fellow Villa targets Calvin Bassey and Aaron Hickey, with Rangers and Bologna looking for [£25m and £18m](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-man-can-solve-24308340) respectively.

Williams has also been compared to Hickey by [Football Transfers](https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/players/brandon-williams/similar-players) and would provide an option at right-back, another area where Villa are short, with Matty Cash the only [senior](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa/kader/verein/405) option available to Gerrard last season.

He already has plenty of Premier League experience and is still in the early stages of his career, so a move to the Midlands could be a shrewd one to provide competition to Lucas Digne.
