# Aston Villa: Declan Firth on trial

**Aston Villa have taken versatile Chelsea teenager Declan Firth on trial, according to [Birmingham Live](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-take-promising-former-21604621).**

### The Lowdown: Livramento interest

This isn’t the first time Villa have been interested in a Stamford Bridge teenager.

Villa were [eyeing](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-chelsea-transfer-news-20968964) a move for Tino Livramento in the summer, however, the full-back ended up [signing](https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2021-08-02/announcement-tino-livramento-southampton-chelsea-transfer) for Southampton and has been a [regular](https://www.transfermarkt.com/valentino-livramento/leistungsdaten/spieler/503981) in the Premier League under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Johan Lange and co have now acted on another Blues youngster, with Firth only signing for at Stamford Bridge back in May.

### The Latest: Firth trial

[Birmingham Live](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-take-promising-former-21604621) shared a story on Friday evening, claiming Firth is on trial at Villa.

The 19-year-old, who can play as a [left-back, left-midfielder or a right-midfielder](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-frith/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/865917), started for the Under-23’s in a victory over West Brom.

[Ashley Preece](https://twitter.com/PreeceObserver/status/1438918385677524997) labelled Firth’s display as ‘menacing’, with Caleb Chukwuemeka grabbing the headlines with a [hat-trick](https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2021/september/U23s-Aston-Villa-0-0-West-Brom/?utm_source=premier-league-website&utm_campaign=website&utm_medium=link) in a [4-2](https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2021/september/U23s-Aston-Villa-0-0-West-Brom/?utm_source=premier-league-website&utm_campaign=website&utm_medium=link) win.

### The Verdict: Smart move?

After missing out on Livramento, it seems as if Villa have taken swift action when it comes to their interest in Firth.

Bringing him to Bodymoor Heath for a trial seems to be a smart option, and should he impress in Mark Delaney’s side, he could be the [latest](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa-u23/transfers/verein/12124) teenager to pen terms at the club’s academy.

We’ve seen at St Mary’s this season with Livramento the impact a youngster from Chelsea can make when given an opportunity, and who knows, Villa could be onto the next impressive talent coming out of Stamford Bridge.
