# Aston Villa: Fans discuss summer transfers

**Aston Villa fans have given their thoughts on the type of player manager Dean Smith should look to sign this summer.**

Villa are currently sat 19th in the Premier League table and desperately trying to avoid relegation just one year after gaining promotion from the Championship.

Football’s standstill due to the recent pandemic has given the Claret and Blue a little breathing space, but the pressure will firmly be on Smith and his players when and if the season returns.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer market, a lot of business going in and out of Villa Park will depend on the club’s top flight status, and whether or not club captain Jack Grealish leaves.

Grealish has arguably been Villa’s best performer this term and he has gained interest from a number of Premier League sides such as [Manchester United](https://metro.co.uk/2020/04/12/man-utd-transfer-target-jack-grealish-told-pick-three-premier-league-clubs-12545344/) and [Everton.](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11974162/jack-grealish-everton-admirers-of-aston-villa-captain-but-focused-on-other-areas)

Discussing the club’s potential summer transfers, Villa fan account on Twitter, @Total\_Villa opened about a debate about a new striker being signed.

Villa currently have Mbwana Samatta, Wesley, Keinan Davis and Borja Baston in their ranks, [although the latter is expected to leave the club this coming summer.](https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-borja-baston-swansea-18157318)

Opening a debate on the club’s current goalscoring options, fans then discussed the areas they felt Villa needed to improve…
