# Aston Villa: Fans love Cash update

**Plenty of Aston Villa fans have been sharing their love for right-back Matty Cash on social media after it was revealed the 23-year-old was in line to receive an improved contact.**

The reliable [John Percy of The Telegraph](https://twitter.com/JPercyTelegraph/status/1379912156817330176) shared the news on Wednesday evening, claiming the club will open talks with Cash over a new deal later this month.

Cash, who joined from Championship side Nottingham Forest last summer in a deal worth just over [£14m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matty-cash/transfers/spieler/425334), has made [23](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matty-cash/leistungsdaten/spieler/425334) Premier League appearances this season.

He’s established himself as first-choice under Dean Smith, with [Ahmed Elmohamady](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ahmed-elmohamady/leistungsdaten/spieler/66333) watching on from the bench during large parts of the campaign.

His current contract, worth [£65,000-a-week](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/aston-villa-fc/payroll/), still has [over four years left to run](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matty-cash/profil/spieler/425334), but it seems as if the club will reward him for his impressive first season in the top flight.
