# Aston Villa: Fans rave over Matty Cash

**Aston Villa managed to strengthen in defence over the summer as they picked up [Matty Cash](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matty-cash/transfers/spieler/425334) from Nottingham Forest. Journalist for The Athletic, Gregg Evans, has been [piling a lot of praise](https://twitter.com/greggevans40/status/1328971203638247424?s=20) on the player and a lot of the fan base have been fawning over his comments on Twitter.**

Fans are fully on board with Evans’ verdict, with one supporter praising Cash as ‘outstanding’. The stats back up this claim, as the right-back has managed 3.3 tackles, 3 interceptions and 3.7 clearances in his seven Premier League games ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322043/Show/Matthew-Cash)).

In his first ever Premier League campaign, the 23 year-old already looks to be a very promising player and he has clearly helped strengthen the Villa defence as they sit sixth in the division and have only conceded nine goals [(SofaScore)](https://www.sofascore.com/tournament/football/england/premier-league/17). This is the joint lowest so far this season.

It is great to see when a summer signing pays off and the [£14.18m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matty-cash/transfers/spieler/425334) that they paid to bring him to to the club is now starting to look like a bit of a bargain.

### Here is what Villa fans said following the tweet about Matty Cash:

> Looking like a very good buy at the moment, hope he continues in same vein and possibly even improves with the more experience he gets at this level.
