# Aston Villa: Fans react as Emiliano Martinez posts picture after Saints win

**Many Aston Villa fans are loving a picture [posted](https://twitter.com/emimartinezz1/status/1355805285210853376?s=20) on Twitter by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez following their side’s [victory](https://www.sofascore.com/southampton-aston-villa/PV) against Southampton.**

The image the Argentinian posted showed a moment in the game where him and six Villa players were on, or close to, the goal line, ready to block an incoming shot from a Saints attacker. He [tweeted](https://twitter.com/emimartinezz1/status/1355805285210853376?s=20): “Bodies on the line”. One fan replied to the tweet calling the image ‘epic’.

The victory was crucial for Dean Smith’s side as they had [lost](https://www.skysports.com/aston-villa-results) during the week to Burnley and they needed to bounce back to show that they are a very different team to the one that survived [on the last day](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53460591#:~:text=Aston%20Villa's%20point%20means%20they,in%20a%20Premier%20League%20campaign.) of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Martinez, who Villa signed in the summer, has been a key asset to the side this season and has been a huge reason why the club are currently sitting eighth in the division ([SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/tournament/football/england/premier-league/17)). In his 19 appearances this season, he has made 66 saves and kept ten clean sheets ([Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/players/4245/Emiliano-Mart%C3%ADnez/stats?co=1&se=363)), this is the second [most clean sheets](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/clean_sheet) in the division.
