# Aston Villa: Fans react as Mile Jedinak is revealed as a coach

**According to Aston Villa youth player Paul Appiah during a Q&A on social media (via [the Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-mile-jedinak-coach-18001699)), Mile Jedinak has returned to his former club in order to take up a coaching role in the youth set-up.**

Currently manned by another former Villain in George Boateng, Jedinak is [understood](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-mile-jedinak-coach-18001699) to have settled to life in Birmingham well after moving to Villa Park from Crystal Palace in 2016 and now looks to have retained a place behind the scenes at Bodymoor Heath.

The Australian appeared [80 times for the club and scored two goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mile-jedinak/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/28336) in the three years he was clad in claret and blue before his release after the play-off final win over Derby in May 2019, a game during which he was on the bench.

> Good, was exactly the right type of character our club needed when we signed him and his experience and professionalism will be a huge asset to the young players. It's great that so many ex players clearly hold a strong affinity for the club when they've moved on 👍
