# Aston Villa: Fans react as Said Benrahma appears to be joining West Ham United

**Many Aston Villa fans have [reacted to a report](https://t.co/d2UyORhXFw?amp=1) claiming Said Benrahma is set to join West Ham United.**

Having successfully fought off the threat of relegation to the Championship, Villa boss Dean Smith can look to the transfer window to potentially improve his squad.

Having been the Premier League’s [second biggest spenders last summer](<https://www.skysports.com/app/transfer/news/21476/11780339/how-much-did-premier-league-clubs-spend-on-transfers-in-summer-window#:~:text=Incredibly%2C%20newly%2Dpromoted%20Aston%20Villa,Douglas%20Luiz%20(%C2%A315m).>), the Midlands side will be under pressure to ensure the right players are signed this time round and a transfer link to Brentford’s lively attacker [Benrahma](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-face-fresh-competition-18678198) has emerged in recent weeks.

The 24-year-old Algerian was one of the most prolific attackers in English football last season, netting [17 goals and providing nine assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/said-benrahma/profil/spieler/290532) in his [43 appearances.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/said-benrahma/profil/spieler/290532)

Despite the winger’s link to Villa Park, a latest report has him linked with a move to West Ham with a [£20m-plus bid reported.](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/09/02/west-brom-make-12m-bid-west-ham-winger-grady-diangana/)

Reacting to the report linking Benrahma with a move to West Ham via Twitter account [@AVFC\_News](https://twitter.com/AVFC_News/status/1301262985390960642), fans gave the following opinion.

> Villa haven’t lodged an official bid! Which begs the question about what’s really happening. We are desperate for some marquee signings. Does Bentahama even tick that box?
