# Aston Villa: Fans react as West Brom emerge to test Fenerbahce’s interest in striker

**Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a transfer report linking Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion with a move for striker Mbwana Samatta.**

Villa boss Dean Smith has been working hard behind the scenes to improve his attacking options this summer, sealing a deal for former Brentford man Ollie Watkins, who netted an impressive [26 goals in the Championship](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ollie-watkins/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/324358) last term

Smith’s desire to improve his options came after seeing the likes of Keinan Davis, Wesley and Samatta all struggle to find the back of the net on a consistent basis last season.

And, the future of the latter has now been thrown into the spotlight, despite only arriving in January for [£9.45m.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mbwana-samatta/transfers/spieler/182201)

Linked with a potential move to Turkish club [Fenerbahce](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/aston-villa-transfer-rumours/villa-fans-react-samatta-agreed-terms-fenerbahce/), Samatta could leave England after scoring just [one Premier League goal.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mbwana-samatta/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/182201)

However, according to journalist [Alan Nixon,](https://twitter.com/reluctantnicko?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) West Brom could make a last ditch attempt to sign the striker before the transfer window closes.

That claim has prompted a number of Villa fans to react, sharing their opinions via Twitter account @villareport. It seems that many do not want him to go, perhaps because he hasn’t yet had much of a chance following his January arrival plus the fact that Albion are one of the Villans’ fiercest rivals.

Here is what some had to say…

> Hands off he’s ours until we get a four fit striker’s in the squad.\
> To many fickle fans dissing him parachuted in, in Jan, asked to play lone role when he’s always played in a 2, new country new surroundings, I’d give him another season yet.

> So I’m guessing it’s just me that doesn’t want him to leave
