# Aston Villa: Fans react following VAR decision vs Brighton

**Many Aston Villa fans are absolutely fuming following VAR’s involvement on their fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion.**

Trezeguet [went down](https://twitter.com/AVFCOfficial/status/1330192899158503436?s=20) in the box 93rd minute after a challenge from Solly March. It was a huge moment with the Seagulls having the[2-1](https://www.sofascore.com/aston-villa-brighton-and-hove-albion/FP) lead. VAR then instructed on-field referee Michael Oliver to look at his decision and he changed his mind, claiming the Brighton defender won enough of the ball first.

Peter Walton spoke on [BT Sport](https://www.bt.com/sport) following the match saying that the first decision should not have been changed because ‘it wasn’t a clear and obvious error’. Therefore, Villa fans definitely have something to be frustrated about, even if there was indeed a touch on the ball from March.

Many supporters flocked to Twitter, with one saying it was “unbelievable” and “atrocious”.

With Dean Smith’s side of course [losing the fixture](https://www.sofascore.com/aston-villa-brighton-and-hove-albion/FP), this was a pivotal and costly moment, and a point from the fixture could have moved the Villains level on points with Southampton.
