# Aston Villa: Fans react as Villans linked with move for Gonzalo Higuain

**Aston Villa have been [linked](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-linked-stunning-move-18829384) with a move for Gonzalo Higuain as Dean Smith looks to bolster his attacking options.**

The 32-year-old striker joined Juventus in [2016](https://www.juventus.com/en/news/news/2016/higuain-joins-juventus-.php) and he has since gone on to find success in winning the Serie A title [three times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gonzalo-higuain/erfolge/spieler/39153), whilst also finishing as a [runner-up in the Champions League final](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jun/03/juventus-real-madrid-champions-league-final-match-report) in 2017.

During his time with the Old Lady, the Argentine goalscorer also spent two loan spells away from the club with AC Milan and Premier League side Chelsea.

Appearing [32 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gonzalo-higuain/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/39153) for the Turin club last season, Higuain netted [eight goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gonzalo-higuain/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/39153) and supplied [four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gonzalo-higuain/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/39153) but new Juve boss Andrea Pirlo has now [revealed](https://ricerca.repubblica.it/ricerca/repubblica?query=west+ham+aston+villa&fromdate=2020-08-23&todate=2020-08-26&sortby=score&author=&mode=any) that the striker will [leave](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53907778) the club this summer.

Villa desperately need to [bolster their attack](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/24/Show/England-Aston-Villa), which includes Wesley, Mbwana Samatta and Keinan Davis, ahead of the new season and signing someone of Higuain’s [experience and quality](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gonzalo-higuain/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/39153) could be a real coup.

Reacting to the club’s reported interest in Higuain, these fans took to Twitter to give their opinions on the rumour, with one sarcastically predicting a “double swoop for him and Messi” after the Argentina striker [indicated that he wants to leave Barcelona](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11833/12056591/lionel-messi-tells-barcelona-he-wants-to-leave-the-club).

> He’ll be 33 in December. May as well just resign Gabby.
