# Aston Villa: Fans react to David Ornstein claim

**Aston Villa have admiration for Rangers duo Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara.**

That’s according to [The Athletic’s David Ornstein](https://twitter.com/TheAthleticUK/status/1480619199378558976?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw), which, as to be expected, has had a number of Villa fans talking on social media.

Gerrard was [promised](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/inside-steven-gerrard-aston-villa-25429141) a huge January kitty when discussing a move to the Midlands back in November, and it didn’t take long for links to [Aribo](https://www.brila.net/aribo-could-become-steven-gerrards-first-signing-at-aston-villa/) and [Kamara](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/villa-transfer-gerrard-rangers-kamara-22321136) to emerge following his Ibrox departure.

Villa are after a midfielder this month following Marvelous Nakamba’s [serious knee injury](https://theathletic.com/news/aston-villas-marvelous-nakamba-likely-to-miss-rest-of-the-season/WCyCyO0tpHU6/) towards the end of 2021. According to [Ornstein](https://twitter.com/TheAthleticUK/status/1480619199378558976?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw), Villa are interested in the Rangers duo, players who Gerrard know well from his time in Scotland.

Philippe Coutinho has already arrived on [loan](https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2022/january/07/villa-agree-coutinho-/), with the club [now after](https://twitter.com/greggevans40/status/1479722514620243970) a midfielder, full-back and back-up goalkeeper before the deadline slams shut.
