# Aston Villa: Fans react to David Ornstein’s deadline day claim

**Reliable reporter [David Ornstein](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) believes that Aston Villa may look at signing a central midfielder on deadline day.**

The Athletic reporter was speaking live on Sky Sports and had many Villa fans talking on social media.

The Villans have been after a new midfielder this month following Marvelous Nakamba’s serious injury towards the end of 2021. However, so far they have had no luck, with offers for [Yves Bissouma](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-transfers-bissouma-bentancur-22847891) and [Rodrigo Bentancur](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jan/28/aston-villa-rodrigo-bentancur-bid-turned-down-by-juventus-transfer) being rejected by Brighton and Juventus respectively.

Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara is thought to be another player on the midfield [shortlist](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1484929429252055046), but there have been no significant updates on Villa and the Frenchman for over a week.

According to Ornstein \[via [@AVFCFaithful](https://twitter.com/AVFCFaithful_/status/1488060449253908485)\], who was speaking on [Sky Sports News](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOXDdY9L-Y4)‘ transfer deadline day coverage, Villa may have another nibble at a central midfielder in the final hours of the January window.
