# Aston Villa: Fans react to Douglas Luiz update

**Manchester City are considering re-signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz this summer.**

And, as to be expected, a number of Villa fans have been giving their thoughts to the news on social media.

Villa signed Luiz from City back in [2019 for just over £15m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/douglas-luiz/transfers/spieler/447661), however, Pep Guardiola’s side included a [£25m buy-back clause](https://www.90min.com/posts/man-city-consider-triggering-douglas-luiz-buy-back-clause-exclusive) in the deal two years ago.

According to [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/man-city-consider-triggering-douglas-luiz-buy-back-clause-exclusive), City are now considering triggering that clause in the summer window for the 23-year-old.

La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are also thought to be keen on the Brazilian midfielder, with Villa now [reportedly](https://www.90min.com/posts/man-city-consider-triggering-douglas-luiz-buy-back-clause-exclusive) scouring the market for a replacement.

Luiz has been a regular under Dean Smith, making [76](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/douglas-luiz/leistungsdaten/spieler/447661) appearances across two seasons, but it appears his future may be out of Villa’s hands.

**“They can have him tbh. At the start of the season and end of last season I would’ve been gutted but been poor last 10 games also with Nakamba putting in great performances and Sanson to come back and no doubt there would be a midfielder coming in if Luiz goes.”**
