# Aston Villa: Fans react to Everton’s Douglas Luiz interest

**Everton are another side who are interested in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.**

The Toffees have been name-checked with a late interest in the Brazilian by [Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIUgPStWVKc) (January 28th), relayed by [HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/01/28/arsenal-everton-aston-villa-douglas-luiz-january-transfer-report/), which has caught the attention of a number of Villa fans on social media.

Luiz has been a player in demand during the final days of the January window, with both [Arsenal](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1486705531628576769) and [Tottenham](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10452657/Tottenham-PANICKING-turning-deal-Juventus-bit-star-Dejan-Kulusevski.html) keen on the 23-year-old’s services.

Villa are poised to [open talks](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/aston-villa-news/aston-villa-fans-react-to-douglas-luiz-update-3/) with Luiz over a new contract, though, with the central midfielder having [18 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/douglas-luiz/profil/spieler/447661) remaining on his current deal.

According to [Solhekol](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIUgPStWVKc) on Sky Sports’ live Transfer Show, Everton have shown an interest in Luiz, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tanguy Ndombele, with the Toffees hunting midfielders after [injuries to Fabian Delph and Abdoulaye Doucoure](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2463364/injury-updates-on-doucoure-and-delph).

However, since that update, they now look [set to sign](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1487751982974709760) Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek on loan, so it remains to be seen where that leaves their interest in the Villa man.

### Villa fans react

[Total Villa](https://twitter.com/Total_Villa/status/1487376242236170242)relayed the links regarding Everton and Luiz on Twitter. This is what these Villa fans had to say in reply, with many surprised at the rumour.
