# Aston Villa: Fans react to Kieran Trippier links

**Aston Villa may rival Newcastle United in the race to sign Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier.**

That’s according to [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/newcastle-require-huge-financial-package-sign-kieran-trippier), and, as to be expected, the transfer rumour has gathered interest from a number of Villa supporters on social media.

Trippier, who was wanted at Villa Park last year, is thought to be keen on a return to the Premier League.

[90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/newcastle-require-huge-financial-package-sign-kieran-trippier) shared a story on Wednesday, claiming Newcastle are willing to offer the England international a club-record contract.

The La Liga side may end up demanding a fee in excess of £39m from the Magpies for Trippier, with Villa, Crystal Palace, Everton and Manchester United all willing to swoop.

Trippier has been a regular under Diego Simeone during his time in Spain, making [83](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kieran-trippier/leistungsdaten/spieler/95810) appearances and helping Atletico win [La Liga](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kieran-trippier/erfolge/spieler/95810) last season.

### Villa fans react

[Total Villa](https://twitter.com/Total_Villa/status/1468863366168932354) shared [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/newcastle-require-huge-financial-package-sign-kieran-trippier)’s claim regarding Villa’s interest in Trippier on Twitter. This is what these Villa fans ad to say in reply, with one believing he’d be a ‘massive’ upgrade on Matty Cash.

**“His experience is key for me. With a young squad and more youth coming through the odd older more experienced player like Trippier would really help Gerrard bring on others and embed his style. Just got to see what Ashley Young is bringing to the team at the moment.”**

**“Massive upgrade on Cash in my opinion. Would be a superb signing but surely we don’t have a prayer of signing him.”**
