# Aston Villa: Fans react to Liverpool’s McGinn and Watkins interest

**Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Aston Villa’s John McGinn and Ollie Watkins.**

And, as to be expected, a number of Villa fans have been reacting to the rumours linking Jurgen Klopp’s side with the two Villa stars.

According to [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/konate-in-wijnaldum-out-how-liverpool-line-up-2021-22/15u228yvu423p1puyveuucy6bg), relayed by [Birmingham Live](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-liverpool-transfer-news-20951498), Watkins is a player the Reds ‘like’.

Midfielder McGinn is also thought to be of [interest to Liverpool, with Manchester United also linked](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-liverpool-transfer-news-20951498) with a move for the Scot.

[McGinn](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/john-mcginn/leistungsdaten/spieler/193116/plus/0?saison=2020) and [Watkins](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ollie-watkins/leistungsdaten/spieler/324358/plus/0?saison=2020) were ever-present figures under Dean Smith last season, with the pair missing just one Premier League game apiece during the 2020/21 campaign.

Watkins was Villa’s second-best top-flight performer behind Jack Grealish, as per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/24/Show/England-Aston-Villa), whereas McGinn outperformed the likes of Marvelous Nakamba, Douglas Luiz and Morgan Sanson.

### Villa fans react

[@AVFC\_News](https://twitter.com/AVFC_News/status/1410856263265755138) shared the Reds’ reported interest in the Villa pair on Twitter.

This is what these Villa supporters had to say in reply, with one describing the rumour as ‘garbage’.

**“So “big 6″ teams are looking at raiding us for Grealish McGinn and Watkins. Absolute madness to let any of them go. We want to get into the top 4 and just can’t do it if we continue the policy of strengthening our opponents and weaken ourselves”**
