# Aston Villa: Fans react to Philippe Coutinho links

**Aston Villa are in direct contact with Philippe Coutinho’s representatives over a possible loan move.**

That’s according to transfer expert [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1478738503362301959), and, as to be expected, a number of Villa fans have gone wild at the update.

Coutinho, who joined Barcelona from Liverpool back in 2018 in a deal worth [£121.5m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/profil/spieler/80444), is [keen](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12509641/philippe-coutinho-barcelona-midfielder-set-for-premier-league-return-with-five-english-clubs-in-race-to-sign-him) on a return to the Premier League.

The Brazilian has contributed to [39](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/leistungsdaten/spieler/80444) goals in [106](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/leistungsdaten/spieler/80444) appearances at the Nou Camp and is out of contract with the Catalan giants in [18 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/profil/spieler/80444) time.

The 29-year-old has started just [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/leistungsdaten/spieler/80444) La Liga games all season and is wanted by [six](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12509641/philippe-coutinho-barcelona-midfielder-set-for-premier-league-return-with-five-english-clubs-in-race-to-sign-him) Premier League clubs, with his decision set to be made by the weekend. [Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1478738503362301959) claimed that Villa are in direct contact with Coutinho’s agent, with a deal not yet agreed as of Wednesday afternoon.

While his move to Catalonia has not exactly gone to plan, the ‘little magician’ undoubtedly still has incredible ability – his compatriot Roberto Firmino claims he is ‘[phenomenal](https://www.fcbarcelonanoticias.com/en/international-football/roberto-firmino-coutinho-is-phenomenal-has-powers_261357_102.html)‘ while his record of [41 goals and 37 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.com/philippe-coutinho/leistungsdaten/spieler/80444/saison/2019/wettbewerb/L1) in 152 previous Premier League appearances speaks for itself.
