# Aston Villa: Fans react to Ryan Kent update

**Aston Villa have been [linked](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/ryan-kent-aston-villa-gerrard-22322347) with a move for Rangers winger Ryan Kent after Steven Gerrard took over at Villa Park.**

However, reliable reporter [Gregg Evans](https://theathletic.com/3014039/2021/12/21/aston-villa-transfer-mailbag-what-are-villas-priority-positions-will-el-ghazi-trezeguet-or-traore-be-sold/) now doesn’t think a January move will materialise, which has had a number of Villa fans talking on social media.

Gerrard was [promised](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/inside-steven-gerrard-aston-villa-25429141) a huge January kitty by NSWE when discussing the Villa Park post, and it isn’t just Kent who has been linked with a move from Glasgow to the Midlands, with [Glen Kamara, Borna Barisic, Nathan Patterson](https://www.90min.com/posts/steven-gerrard-ready-to-raid-rangers-in-january-transfer-window), [Connor Goldson](https://www.givemesport.com/1805149-aston-villa-transfer-news-rangers-star-in-the-frame-to-join-gerrard-at-villa-park) and [Joe Aribo](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/joe-aribo-scouted-southampton-rangers-25747812?_ga=2.151081343.711011020.1640177030-1028700646.1629728798) also been named as reported targets.

Evans shared a transfer mailbag on [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3014039/2021/12/21/aston-villa-transfer-mailbag-what-are-villas-priority-positions-will-el-ghazi-trezeguet-or-traore-be-sold/) on Wednesday and responded to one fan’s question regarding the links to Kent. He said ‘I’m pretty sure it’s a no’, with Villa already having plenty of attacking options.

### Villa fans react

[Total Villa](https://twitter.com/Total_Villa/status/1473961740580708357) shared Evans’ claim regarding Kent on Twitter. This is what these Villa supporters had to say in reply, with many not exactly gutted at the update.

**“Not sure we should be signing anyone from Rangers. SPL is championship level and if any of them were that good lots of teams would be circling. I will however trust Gerrard’s judgement.”**

**“Didn’t care for Kent anyway but I hope we’re still looking at wingers. We could do with another one unless El Ghazi or Trezeguet turn out amazing under Gerrard”**

**“Absolute nobody. No one at Rangers could get near our squad. A Skint clubs fantasy to appease their supporters they have funds. Glasgow’s Birmingham City.”**
