# Aston Villa: Fans react to transfer update on Ross Barkley

**Many Aston Villa fans are reacting to the latest transfer update about loanee Ross Barkley, who would be keen to stay at the club.**

According to journalist [Ashley Preece](https://twitter.com/PreeceObserver) and tweeted out by [@villareport](https://twitter.com/villareport/status/1341749823284908034?s=20), Barkley is believed to be keen to make his loan deal a permanent move as after his close friend Jack Grealish committed his long-term future to Aston Villa

Before picking up his [injury](https://www.sofascore.com/aston-villa-brighton-and-hove-albion/FP) in the match against Brighton, Barkley played five times in the Premier League, scoring two goals and getting one assist. Villa have definitely lost a huge threat and they’ll be hoping that the England international is back very soon as he has averaged 3.4 shots, three key passes and 2.2 successful dribbles per game ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/92547/Show/Ross-Barkley)).

He also helps captain Grealish massively. With Barkley out of the side, Grealish has been the main attacking threat and has a lot of the weight on his shoulders and he’s been given more attention from the opposition.
