# Aston Villa: Fans slate Trezeguet following West Ham defeat

**Many Aston Villa fans were very frustrated with Trezeguet following his performance in the [2-1](https://www.sofascore.com/aston-villa-west-ham-united/MP) loss against West Ham United.**

The Egyptian only has [one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/trezeguet/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/234189/verein/405) so far this season in the top flight. Despite this, he has produced a decent attacking threat, managing 2.4 shots, one key pass and 1.1 successful dribbles per game ([WhoScored)](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/313545/Show/Tr%C3%A9z%C3%A9guet).

However, it is easy to see why fans were not pleased with the Egyptian following the fixture in east London. He missed a huge chance when Villa were 2-1 down ([SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/aston-villa-west-ham-united/MP)), while he also lost possession five times and lost eight of his 13 duels (62%) – four on the ground and four in the air.

With summer signing Ross Barkley [injured](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ross-barkley-aston-villa-injury-19363136), players like Trezeguet need to step up and help Jack Grealish. The captain scored and picked up an 8.9 rating, whilst Trezeguet only picked up a 6.9 rating ([SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/aston-villa-west-ham-united/MP)).

Villa are expected to face Newcastle next on Friday, although there are genuine concerns that game could be off after an [outbreak at the Tyneside club](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-covid-postpone-aston-villa-19377035).
