# Aston Villa: Fans wanted Trezeguet on much earlier in defeat to Sheffield United

**A lot of Aston Villa fans were calling for Trezeguet to be introduced long before his eventual [80th-minute introduction](https://www.skysports.com/football/sheff-utd-vs-a-villa/teams/408148) on a day to forget for Dean Smith’s team.**

The Villans fell to a 0-2 defeat away to Sheffield United this afternoon, their [third consecutive loss](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa/spielplan/verein/405) in the Premier League, and now have just [one win in their last eight matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa/spielplan/verein/405) in the division.

Egyptian winger Trezeguet again had to be content with a place among the substitutes, having also been [named on the bench against Leicester last week before he was brought on](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/trezeguet/leistungsdaten/spieler/234189), as Smith went with an attacking three of [Anwar El Ghazi, Wesley and Jack Grealish](https://www.skysports.com/football/sheff-utd-vs-a-villa/teams/408148).

The 25-year-old eventually [came on for El Ghazi](https://www.skysports.com/football/sheff-utd-vs-a-villa/teams/408148) with only 10 minutes to go, the lateness of the substitution perhaps a surprise given that the visitors [failed to record a single shot on target](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50696490) at Bramall Lane.

These Aston Villa fans on Twitter wanted to see Trezeguet being introduced well before Smith finally gave him the call:

> yep, been shocking lads.

> drop jack into midfield and bring on trez we can’t persist with the same tactics every game when it’s clearly not working
