# Aston Villa: Fans rejoice as Jack Grealish returns to Villa ahead of new season

**Aston Villa club captain Jack Grealish has posted an image of himself returning to England for pre-season training.**

The Birmingham-born attacking midfielder made a total of 36 appearances for the Claret and Blue last season, netting eight goals and gaining six assists (as per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-grealish/profil/spieler/203460)).

Such good form saw the 24-year-old enhance his reputation and provide Dean Smith with a key performer as Villa fought off the threat of relegation and remained in the Premier League for the 2020/21 season.

Linked with a summer move away from Villa Park, Grealish’s performances have enticed the likes of [Manchester United](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/jack-grealish-man-utd-transfer-move-signing-tactics-midfield-formation-how-he-fits), [Arsenal](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/12279411/arsenal-transfer-grealish-aston-villa/) and [Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news-jack-grealish-manchester-united-tottenham-aston-villa-darren-bent-a4518621.html) to show interest. Whilst that discussion has taken place among several media outlets, reports have somewhat softened since the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

Grealish, who has been enjoying a summer break abroad, has now prompted Villa fans to be optimistic that he will remain at the club by posting an image of his return to England on Instagram.
