Aston Villa missed their captain Jack Grealish against Leicester City last weekend and supporters will not be happy to hear the latest update on the player ahead of their game this weekend.
The latest on Grealish
Speaking via Aston Villa, Dean Smith said: “He’s getting better. He won’t be ready for tomorrow but he’s getting better. As I said last week, there’s been an awful lot of speculation where Jack is involved. People speculated how long he’s going to be out for – I’m not sure how they can do that when I don’t know, the doctor doesn’t know and Jack doesn’t know.
“I was very vague last week because it’s a bit of a strange injury. Jack could be back to play against Sheffield United next Wednesday or Wolves next week. We’ll be led by Jack on that.”
Villa need to work out a solution without Grealish
Everyone knows the potential and the current quality of the attacking midfielder, including England manager Gareth Southgate, who was in awe of the Villa skipper when he played for the Three Lions, hailing his performance against Belgium as ‘outstanding’.
The skipper has managed an average of 2.1 shots, 3.4 key passes and 2.8 successful dribbles a game and turned these amazing attacking stats into end product, picking up six goals as well as assisting ten times in the division, (WhoScored).
Therefore the six words from Smith that “he won’t be ready for tomorrow” are definitely worrying given Leeds just produced a phenomenal performance in a 3-0 win against Southampton – Villa will need to be at their best. Perhaps even more concerning is the fact the gaffer doesn’t seem to know when Grealish will actually be ready to return.
