Many Aston Villa fans are reacting to a tweet from Gregg Evans in which he praises winger Bertrand Traore following his performance against Newcastle.
The summer signing had a great game against the Magpies, and this prompted the Athletic journalist to say: “He’s turning into a big player now, isn’t he?”
It is fair to ask this question as the former Chelsea player picked up the joint-second best rating on the pitch on Saturday evening (7.6). He scored a goal, made one key pass and completed 33 passes (SofaScore).
The 25-year-old now has four goals and two assists this season (Transfermarkt) and all four of those goals and one of the assists all came in his last six appearances for Dean Smith’s side.
If he continues the great form that he is is currently in, then he will be a vital player for the club as they push for a top-half finish and it is understandable why Evans now sees him as a big game player.
Here is what Villa fans said following the tweet:
“Even before the goal, I was thinking this guy is putting in a shift, he running everywhere! Helps that people like El Ghazi breathing down his neck…loving the team spirit at villa”
“Makes it look easy, started off a bit rusty but now he’s clearly enjoying and loving playing and his quality is so good”
“Really love this player he’s got that special wow factor about him and goals, he’s only going to get better and better after his first season”
“Defo Gregg, I was a bit sceptical at first but you know what mate, he’s showing he’s some player”
“He’s a wildcard! When’s he’s on it he’s fantastic”
“That first touch to bring him inside was beautiful!!!”
