A number of Aston Villa fans have been sharing their love at the club’s official Twitter post ahead of this evening’s clash with Manchester City.

City were one of six Premier League sides to sign up for the European Super League over the weekend.

The news regarding the ESL has dominated the headlines ever since, with all six sides now withdrawing their interest from the competition following severe backlash.

Villa appeared to take aim at Pep Guardiola’s side on Monday evening, two days before the match at Villa Park.

They sent out a Twitter post with the simple caption ‘TWO days until #AVLMCI’.

However, the club decided to add a picture of their number two Matty Cash, resulting in many drawing comparisons to City’s financial decision to sign up to the ESL.

Villa fans react

Villa’s post went viral, receiving over 30,000 likes, 5,000 retweets and hundreds of replies from football fans all across the world.

These Villa supporters also shared their love towards the post, with one describing it as ‘fantastic’.
