Aston Villa fans have been expressing their excitement after new signing Emiliano Buendia conducted his first interview with the club.

Villa confirmed the signing of the Argentine midfielder from newly-promoted Norwich City earlier this week.

Buendia arrives for a club-record fee of £33million, eclipsing the £28million paid to sign Ollie Watkins from Brentford last summer (via BBC Sport).

Moreover, the fee could rise as high as £38million with add-ons.

Villa were able to beat Arsenal to the signature of a player who topped the Championship assist charts in 2020/21 with 16.

He also added 15 goals for Daniel Farke's Canaries.

In the interview, Buendia described his move as an 'amazing step' and said he is raring to go ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The 24-year-old was called up for his nation's World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia but has not made their 28-man squad for the Copa America.

That should allow him to make an earlier return to England and begin adapting to his new surroundings.

The club's official Twitter account posted some footage from Buendia's interview, and here's how fans reacted.
