Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn has been pictured back in training ahead of Scotland’s second fixture of the international break.
McGinn missed Villa’s most recent Premier League fixture, a 1-1 home draw with newly-promoted Brentford, after testing positive for coronavirus (via Sky Sports).
That also ruled him out of Scotland’s World Cup qualifying clash with Denmark on Wednesday, which ended in a 2-0 defeat for Steve Clarke’s side.
Scotland now take on Moldova on Saturday night before travelling to Austria on Tuesday.
Boost for Villa after double blow
Provided McGinn comes through both of those games unscathed, he should be back at Dean Smith’s disposal for the Premier League trip to Chelsea next weekend.
There are other concerns for Villa, though, with Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia both facing three match lay-offs if they wind up in a ten-day hotel quarantine (via The Athletic).
Birmingham Live journalist Ashley Preece ‘quote tweeted‘ the Scotland training image, writing ‘McGinn’s back!’, and here’s what fans made of it, hailing the ‘good news’.
