Reliable reporter Fabrizio Romano shared an update on Aston Villa right-back Matty Cash and his possible nationality switch to represent Poland.
And, as to be expected, a number of Villa fans were quick to give their thoughts to the news on social media.
The 24-year-old netted his first Villa goal on the weekend, and Cash’s father, Stuart, told UEFA reporter Piotr Kozminski that the process to receive a Polish passport began months ago and ‘should be completed soon’.
Cash is open to featuring for Poland, should they be interested in his services, and it seems as if the relevant paperwork to make him eligible will be finalised.
Thoughts on Cash's choice?
Should've stayed and fought for England!
Right to represent Poland!
Villa fans react
Romano posted the comments on Twitter in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
This is what these Villa fans had to say in reply with a response from a Poland and Villa fan and another supporter labelling it as ‘great news’.
“That could be a nice addition under the General in Poland. (I might be biased #UTV).”
“Getting closer now for Cashy.”
“Great news – sod the England set up under Southgate, he isn’t going to get a look in anyway.”
“The Polish Cafu”
“Good for Cash! He’s clearly not going to get a sniff in at England sadly”
“Good on him”
