Aston Villa finally announced the arrival of French midfielder Morgan Sanson and a lot of the fan base are reacting to the what the player had to say upon signing.
The midfielder had a lot to say, but the main thing which stood out for the fan base was that he said, via @villareport: “I’m really happy to be here. I’m very proud to join the Aston Villa family, and in the future I hope we can do great things together. It’s a magical club, a big club in England.”
What is very exciting about the midfielder is the fact that he clearly is a threat in attack but he is also someone one who can also help out the defence too as he has managed an average of 1.9 tackles and 1.1 key passes a game in Ligue 1 this campaign (WhoScored).
It seems like Villa got a bargain as well as they paid roughly £14m for him despite his market valuation being £18m (Transfermarkt).
With the club able to acquire such experienced European stars like Sanson, it is easy to see why some Villa fans are excited about this news. Sanson has added much-needed depth and quality to help the club potentially finish the season in the European qualification places.
This, combined with his comments on Villa being a big club, highlight how far Dean Smith’s side have come since the dramatic final day of the 2019/20 season in which they managed to stay in the division.
Here is what Villa fans had to say following the comments:
“This man has praised Don Smith, praised the players and praised the fans, I love him already”
“This bloke looks like the real deal. We’re starting to build a squad of genuine quality.”
“He’s started off on a good note”
“Love him already”
“My god these sort of statements from foreign players make me immensely proud of the club”
“He’s saying all the right things im excited”
In other news, Gregg Evans has highlighted one transfer problem for Aston Villa.
